You’ll Never Get Hired if You Say This in a Job Interview
Job interviews can be nerve-wracking. And you don’t want to say the wrong thing and end up getting your dream job. So what is it that you should avoid saying? We’ve got the answers!
You Don’t Have to Be an Expert in the Company
Don’t think that because you’ve done some research about the company and its products or services, you’re ready for the interview. In fact, if you know too much about them, it could come off as overkill and make them feel like they don’t need to ask questions or get to know you better. Instead, keep it simple: talk about why you’re interested in working with them and what excites you about their industry. This will help them see how excited and motivated you are about this opportunity—and hopefully get them excited about hiring YOU!
You Won’t Be Able to Do It All on Your Own
It’s tempting to present yourself as an all-knowing expert who can do anything—but don’t fall into that trap! If asked whether you have any weaknesses or challenges as an employee, be honest.
Job interviews are the worst. They can be nerve-wracking, but they’re also exciting—after all, they mean that you’re one step closer to getting the job!
But there are certain things that will make you look like a terrible candidate, and these are some of them:
“I’m not really sure what my strengths are.”
“I just want to be happy in my career.”
“I’m not really sure what my weaknesses are.”
If you say any of these things at a job interview, it’s safe to say that it’ll be a long time until you get hired. But if you want to nail your next interview and score the job that you’ve been waiting for, follow these tips:
1) Do your research on the company before going into the interview. This gives you something good to talk about when asked about why their company interests you. And if there’s something about their mission statement or values that really resonates with you, it shows them how much effort has gone into researching their company.
2) Make sure your resume is up-to-date and error-free
